The Max trophy is presented each year by Graham and Jenny Keating for the best performing dog over the height of 550mm in the final of the NSW Agility Dog of the Year. It is in memory of their first dog to compete in agility - and associate register Labrador cross called MAX. This trophy is in recognition of the extra difficulties presented to the large dog when negotiating an agility course - the greater difficulty in making tight turns, the greater difficulty in creating safe approaches to obstacles especially the dog walk, see saw and tyre, and in recognition that Mac Trucks are more difficult to manoeuvre than sports cars.

" Another piece of trivia in regards to the Max Shield, it has a Northern Territory influence. Graham and Jenny had   come to the NT for holidays and visited us. Heidi is the winner of a perpetual trophy up here for the Most Versatile GSP. The trophy is in the shape of the NT and Graham thought that was a good idea and hence styled the Max Shield in the shape of NSW !!! so there you go!! cheers fiona Hoek (NT)

It was first presented in 2004. The winners have been:
